Dualthon Information

Age Restriction:

Racers must be 14 years or older.


Racers receive a running shirt, a finishers medal, finish line food—donut holes, fruit, PowerAde, and water.

Registration & Packet Pick up:

At the Ashland Chamber of Commerce tent at the Ashland Bay Days Festival Grounds:
Friday, July 14 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, Saturday, July 15 9am-8pm.
There is no race day registration.

Lake Packet Pickup
(for pre registered racers): Sunday, July 16th, 6:30am-7:30am at Bayview Park, across from Tractor Supply on Hwy 2.

Bike Check-In:

Athletes will check bikes into transition on Sunday, July 16th between the hours of 6:30am—7:30am.

Chip Timing:

Competitors will pick up chips at the transition area on Sunday, July 16th.


Parking is available free of charge across the street from Bayview park in the designated parking lot areas.

Race Numbers:

Your packet will contain one bib number.

The Course:

Please review the race routes prior to the race. It is your responsibility to know the course and to conduct yourself safely. PLEASE NOTE: that the bike and run courses are not closed to traffic. Be aware of your surroundings and proceed with caution at all driveways, intersections, and turns. Watch out for uneven pavement and other road hazards. Each person is individually responsible for completing the course. No assistance allowed. If you do not complete the swim, bike or run courses, you must notify a race official or race director as soon as possible. The Race director may alter the course due to conditions, safety concerns or construction.


The first leg of the Duathlon is a 1 mile run along the Ashland Waterfront Trail, viewing Lake Superior


Bicycle Portion of the Duathlon.  15.45 miles
Transition areas are in the same place for bicycle and run. Bib numbers must be attached to shirt. Bike Helmets are required. Headphones are not allowed. Obey all traffic laws. For your safety law enforcement and volunteers will be posted at heavily traveled intersections for traffic control.  Riding is not permitted in the transition area. No drafting allowed; race marshals will be on the course.


No bikes will be allowed out of the transition area after 9:30am ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS.  Only race participants are allowed in the transition area.   Please remove your belongings from the transition area as soon as possible after all racers complete the race as security will be lifted from the transition area approximately 30 minutes after the last finisher.


The 2nd run portion is a 3.1 mile out and back course, that again, runs along the beautiful Chequamegon Bay on the Ashland Waterfront Trail..

Water Stations:

Water & PowerAde will be available at or around the 5 mile, 10 mile and the finish line.

Race Clock:

Duathlon participants need to be able to finish the Duathlon within a 2 hour clock


Racers receive a finishers’ medal, running shirt;
Awards - Top 3 overall in both male & female categories. 

General Duathlon Information:

All race officials and volunteers will wear yellow vests identifying them. Please follow the instructions of all race officials. These people are there for your safety. The race directors reserve the right to change or cancel the race if required by adverse conditions. The post-race party and awards presentation will be located in the festival tent near the transition area following the race.

Plans for Inclement Weather:

  • Delay the start of the race up to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Modify the race course.
  • Cancel the race (there are no refunds for a canceled race due to weather)
